PERform at House of Yes

Everyone! Amateur talent is welcome - that’s the whole point of these shows! QTPOC performers are especially encouraged to apply.

We also welcome established performers to apply if you have a brand new act you’d like to workshop that isn’t quite ready for the big leagues yet.

This is House of Yes and we are looking to showcase more than the mainstream trope infesting the drag world. There is NO TIME LIMIT and we empower you to bring your high energy, high concept, high art! Hidden talents, big messes, ridiculous props, puppets, aerial performances, live music, sideshow skills, multi-person acts, audience participation, anything that can take YOU to the next level.

If you plan are doing aerial, we have some apparatuses available for loan for showtime only. All aerialists must submit a video of their act to assure they've had proper training and can perform safely.

***ALL BORROWED SET PIECES, AERIAL APPARATUSES, PROPERTY OF HOUSE OF YES, ETC. MUST BE TREATED WITH RESPECT AND RETURNED IN THE SAME CONDITION AS IT WAS LOANED OUT AT THE END OF THE EVENT.***

For messy acts, you are required to bring a tarp large enough to protect the stage from the mess. They are about $10 at any hardware store. NO FAKE blood. All mess must be approved by the producer ahead of time!

Any kind or use of living animals is prohibited. Fire acts are prohibited at Hot & Fresh Burlesque and Bushwick’s Got Talent.

Our full stage is 12'x20' with a 16'x5' runway that jets out into the audience. You may choose to use the full stage, just the runway with the red main stage curtain as a backdrop, or both! Acts that have elaborate sets, large props, aerial, huge messes, or multiple person dance pieces are encouraged use the full stage plus the runway so we may light you beautifully.

Floor work can only be seen by the first row of the audience so please keep any choreography "UP" if you want it to be seen!

We have a small dressing room with mirrors and lights you will have access to. You may use it to get ready and prepare for your act. Expect a full lineup with many competitors, so if you're looking for a place to chill, do so in the house. Pre-show is the perfect time to make new friends and win over extra supporters.

Pay will be tips pooled from the audience that are split equally at the end of the event to all competitors. Any tips handed or thrown directly to you during your performance are yours and will not be a part of the pool. Please stay until the end of the night to collect your tips or provide your Venmo information to one of the stage managers the night of the event if you must leave early.
